Chief Revenue Officer, Lions Sports Marketing
Nik Kumar is Chief Revenue Officer of Lions Sports Marketing, a joint venture between JMI Sports and IMG College formed to serve as the multimedia rights partner of Columbia University.
Kumar comes to JMI Sports from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, where was Vice President, overseeing enrollment, retention, aid and scholarships, communications and business development projects. As the College’s Chief recruitment and marketing officer, he worked closely with the College President, Cabinet and Board of Trustees to drive business strategy, partnerships and to diversify revenue generation.
In his role at Manhattanville, Kumar was responsible for generating over $70 million in revenue, while managing a team that drove the sales and marketing for the institution. He was involved with building partnerships both at the higher education and corporate level, contract negotiations, digital marketing strategies and a CRM integration to enhance revenue and bring efficiencies to business processes.
Among other projects, Kumar led the college’s Athletic Director search, thereby hiring the seventh Athletic Director in Manhattanville’s history. Additionally, he worked in collaboration with the Athletic Department coaches and staff to meet recruitment goals and also partnered across campus to increase the number of varsity athletic programs to 22 varsity sports.
During his time on campus, he helped build Manhattanville’s sport business management program and most recently the Professional Tennis Management (PTM) partnership with the United States Tennis Association (USTA).
In his former roles, Kumar served as the college’s Director of Graduate Admissions for the School of Graduate & Professional Studies, Head Men’s Golf coach and Associate Men’s Tennis coach. As the golf coach, Kumar led the team to three NCAA (National College Athletic Association) tournament appearances and the 2012 Farmers insurance National Academic Championship for Division III. In 2015, Kumar was recognized by the Business Council of Westchester at their annual Forty under Forty Rising Star awards program.
Prior to joining Manhattanville College, he worked for Octagon Sports Marketing and New Line Cinema Television.
Kumar holds a Master’s degree in Sport Business Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Management, both from Manhattanville College. As a student-athlete, he played golf at the Division III level and was a four-time all-conference selection and a former Academic All American.
