NCAA Infractions
As the rules of the NCAA continue to change on a frequent basis, it has become increasingly challenging for universities to educate and monitor its student athletes and constituents. There will be times when, unfortunately, a university will face a crisis or investigation regarding a potential rules violation. The JMI Sports team has extensive experience in the rules compliance field and with infractions cases that ideally positions us to aid in the conduct of internal investigations and represent the institution at both the conference and NCAA level.
NCAA Compliance
Maintaining compliance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA is arguably one of the most difficult tasks that a collegiate athletic program faces. The JMI Sports team has decades of on-campus compliance experience, and can evaluate, analyze and make recommendations to institutions and conferences on their compliance programs. Our in-depth review will ensure that effective processes and procedures are in order to maintain critical institutional control.
NCAA Reclassification
Many institutions today are considering advancement to the NCAA, or to a higher division within the NCAA. In addition, many are contemplating moves to different conferences. Such changes carry risk and require thorough analysis and informed decision making. The JMI Sports team can assist in evaluating the costs, benefits and risks associated with these alternatives. We can help to develop and implement a plan to ensure that the reclassification process is followed as prescribed by the NCAA and completed in a timely fashion.
Title IX and Gender Equity
Every university continuously strives to meet the gender equity standards mandated by federal and state laws, as well as those established by university systems and individual schools. The JMI Sports team is notably experienced with the nuts and bolts of implementation plans covering the important elements of Title IX, including but not limited to, participation numbers, budget equality, team travel and accommodations, facilities, coaching and administrative staff, and salaries. Recognizing that many gender equity decisions are made difficult by budget constraints, our team undertakes a thorough examination of a school’s current status, and provides analysis, recommendations and implementation assistance in this most important area.
