Managing Director, Development Division

Kacie Renc is Managing Director of the Development Division of JMI Sports, providing development management services assisting professional sports teams, universities and municipalities seeking to build or renovate major sports venues.

As Managing Director, Renc’s leadership is critical in every phase of the firm’s development projects, from conceptual planning, pre-development and design development, to construction and move-in. She works to enhance the client’s vision and bring it to fruition, while minimizing risk and maximizing value for all stakeholders including: ownership, sports teams, development partners, government entities and the public. When approaching a project, Renc identifies revenue opportunities, seeks operational efficiencies and improves the fan experience, adding considerable long-term value to the client’s venue. Renc’s technical expertise and unwavering attention to detail enables her to manage extraordinarily complex projects and continually exceed client’s expectations.

During her tenure at JMI Sports, Renc has been instrumental in the development of three new buildings at the University of Oregon, including the Matthew Knight Arena, Ford Alumni Center and an underground parking structure. As a direct result of Renc’s leadership, the Matthew Knight Arena project was completed under its $200 million fixed budget and became one of the nation’s premier collegiate sports venues garnering industry accolades and national media attention. Additionally, she oversaw the development of the Goodyear Ballpark and Recreational Complex in Arizona, home to the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds. Delivered on-schedule and within budget, this Major League Baseball spring training facility also received outstanding industry acclaim.

Renc brings more than 20 years of project management experience to JMI Sports, working for such highly respected firms as Hines, Turner Construction and Chevron. While employed by Hines, Renc was a key member of the PETCO Park development team. As the San Diego Padres’ main point of contact, she was the primary manager responsible for coordinating all aspects of the ballpark’s design, while also overseeing numerous construction activities. Additionally, Renc has held leadership roles overseeing the design and/or construction of many other project types including: office buildings; mixed-used private development; and build-to-suit biotech. Her knowledge is diversified with experience in land acquisition, marketing, interior design, office and retail leasing, and mechanical engineering.

Renc earned a Bachelor of Science from the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University. She and her husband Michael live in San Rafael, Calif.
