Kate Dimitruk manages internal operations for JMI Sports LLC, a fully integrated management and consulting firm that provides comprehensive services to the sports marketplace. The company was co-founded by Principal Erik Judson and John Moores, owner and chairman of the San Diego Padres.
In this role, Dimitruk is responsible for a variety of operational functions, from managing human resources and information technology, to providing on-site, project related support.
Within human resources, Dimitruk directs employee benefit programs, including health insurance and the firm’s 401k savings plan, while piloting corporate policies and administering payroll. Dimitruk also provides technical support to the firm, including its satellite offices, and is responsible for hardware and systems purchasing, programming and vendor management.
During the final phase of the Matthew Knight Arena project, Dimitruk provided critical on-site support, working as a member of the project team to complete the comprehensive records transfer required of a public project.
In addition, Dimitruk spearheaded the establishment of the JMI Sports Foundation to coordinate charitable giving initiatives, focusing on education, housing and healthcare for San Diego’s underprivileged youth, and is the company’s liaison to the community.
Dimitruk came to JMI Sports in 2008 from the hospitality industry, previously working seven years for one of San Diego’s top independent restaurant groups, Urban Kitchen. As General Manager of Kensington Grill, the group’s flagship restaurant, she excelled at business management, employee retention, and building repeat clientele. Every single year under Dimitruk’s leadership the restaurant received recognition as San Diego’s Best Neighborhood Restaurant by the California Restaurant Association.
Dimitruk attended the University of California, San Diego, earning two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Critical Gender Studies.
