A twenty plus year collegiate marketing veteran, David Bertram is leaving JMI Sports and his role as Vice President of Campus Marketing and Digital Media for UK Sports & Campus Marketing to launch Bertram Marketing Group.

Bertram began his career working on the NCAA Corporate Marketing program at Host Communications where he led the NCAA Football initiative. Upon IMG’s acquisition of Host and later ISP Sports, Bertram’s role was expanded to include other national properties including: the Football Bowl Association, the National Football Foundation and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics among others. Prior to joining JMI Sports, Bertram was CEO of Volar Video, a sports video streaming company founded by Jim Host.

Having worked under JMI Sports President Tom Stultz at Host and IMG College, Bertram was tapped by Stultz, JMI Sports CEO Erik Judson, and UK property President Paul Archey to launch JMI Sports’ Total Campus Marketing program at the University of Kentucky. During his two-year tenure, the UK program garnered several new partners totaling nearly $30 million in new, long-term contracts for the University.

“I am very appreciative that Erik, Tom and Paul brought me on their team to help develop this important element for the company, and I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished. With the assets we identified and created along with the incredible cooperation from the University, the campus marketing program at UK will prosper and will provide a blueprint for success for other JMI Sports properties in the future,” said Bertram.

Bertram Marketing Group will provide business development services for companies seeking to enter the collegiate marketing space, specifically technology companies with innovative solutions for athletics.

“I have been incredibly fortunate to have gained valuable experience on numerous sides of the collegiate multi-media business, including national and local sales, licensing, digital media, technology and campus marketing, and I am excited to bring that expertise to companies wishing to do business in the space, but are challenged by its complexities,” Bertram added.

“David has been a valuable member of our team, but we recognize and respect his desire build a business of his own.” Said Paul Archey, President of UK Sports & Campus Marketing. “David’s contributions have been very valuable and we look forward to collaborating with him in the future.”
