Penn Athletics Names JMI Sports Official Multimedia Rights Agency

New rights holder seeks to secure premium brands to develop deep and integrated relationships with Penn Athletics and The Penn Relays

The University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics announced today that JMI Sports will become its official multimedia rights partner. Commencing on July 1, 2016, the 10-year agreement includes rights to both Penn Athletics and The Penn Relays.

Grace Calhoun, Athletic Director for Penn Athletics. “JMI’s leadership team of CEO Erik Judson and President Tom Stultz has demonstrated a thorough understanding of, and deep appreciation for, the power of the Penn Athletics brand regionally, nationally and internationally.”

JMI Sports will secure long-term partnerships by targeting elite brands that wish to align with Penn Athletics and the Penn Relays and reach its fans and distinguished alumni base both locally and globally. The University of Pennsylvania has the second largest student population in The Ivy League, with a base of over 290,000 living alumni.

The partnership between Penn Athletics and JMI Sports seeks to maximize the value of Penn’s marketing assets, while developing valuable relationships with sponsors, fans, alumni and students through the delivery of: corporate sponsorships and advertising, radio and television broadcasts, coaches’ shows and endorsements, website and social media, game programs and publications, in-game production and hospitality, venue signage and naming rights, special events, and innovative activations.

“Our goal is to work collaboratively with Penn Athletics’ leadership and a handful of elite corporate sponsors to create unique partnerships that exceed the expectations of sponsors within the guidelines established by the University,” said JMI Sports President Tom Stultz. “In the process, we believe that we can enhance the fan experience, increase fan engagement and help expand Penn’s incredible brand, while also allowing sponsors to communicate with the best and brightest represented by Penn’s various constituent groups.”
