PROJECT OVERVIEW

With a capacity of 87,451, Jordan-Hare Stadium is the nation’s 10th-largest on-campus stadium and has served as home of the Auburn Tigers since 1939. Recognizing the evolving needs and desires of Auburn’s many constituents, including fans, students, donors, sponsors, media and student-athletes, the University commissioned a study to analyze the feasibility of a stadium renovation. After diligent review of the analysis, the University chose to proceed with the project, which is scheduled for completion in fall 2018. The north endzone is the primary focus of the renovation which will include improvements to team and recruit spaces, seating areas (general, student and club), concourses, press facilities, concessions, restrooms, premium amenities and standing room areas. If planned and implemented effectively, this renovation has the potential to elevate Jordan-Hare to the upper tier of football stadiums in the country.

OUR ROLE

JMI Sports was engaged by Auburn University to work with its Athletics Department in evaluating the feasibility of a football stadium renovation. The scope of work included both qualitative and quantitative analyses in the following areas: benchmarking, stadium program, revenue assumptions, market data, project budget and project schedule. In performing the study, JMI Sports built a foundation of information by interviewing University leadership, reviewing previous renovation studies, analyzing comparative facilities, engaging specialized subconsultants and applying extensive industry knowledge. Upon commencement of the renovation project, JMI Sports was engaged by the University to act as Athletics’ representative throughout the design and construction process. The design phase is currently underway and particular focus is on ensuring that the stadium’s program and design supports its business model and enhances the game-day experience.
